Hyatt Globalist status isn’t just another top-tier hotel loyalty level — it’s one of the most coveted elite statuses in the travel world. Hyatt Globalist benefits include free suite upgrades, waived resort fees, free breakfast, and even access to a dedicated concierge.

But earning Hyatt Globalist status takes real strategy, whether you’re racking up nights, earning base points, or combining your hotel stays with smart credit card spending. Here’s everything you need to know about earning World of Hyatt Globalist and Lifetime Globalist status, the benefits you’ll enjoy, and whether it’s worth pursuing.

How To Get Hyatt Globalist Status

Hyatt Globalist elite status requires travelers to hit one of two metrics to earn this top-tier status:

• Stay 60 nights
• Earn 100,000 base points

Thankfully you don’t have to actually sleep 60 nights in a Hyatt hotel to earn Hyatt Globalist. There are a few shortcuts we’ll cover below.

Staying at Hyatt Hotels

The most straightforward way to earn Globalist status with Hyatt is by spending nights in a Hyatt property. You can earn Hyatt qualifying nights from both paid stays as well as award redemptions.

Note that reservations booked through third-party platforms — like Expedia, Hotels.com, or even some Chase Travel portal reservations — are ineligible to earn qualifying nights within the World of Hyatt program, so they should be avoided if the end goal is earning status or enjoying the perks once you have earned it.

Earning base points

If 60 nights seems insurmountable, you can alternatively reach World of Hyatt Globalist by earning 100,000 base points each year. World of Hyatt members generally earn 5X base points for each dollar they spend on eligible hotel charges, including room rates, dining, spa services, and other eligible purchases at participating Hyatt hotels and resorts.

Hyatt Studios is an exception, with stays earning 2.5X base points per dollar spent.

Back-of-the-napkin math means that at the standard 5X earning rate, you’d need to spend $20,000 a year at Hyatt to earn and keep Globalist status.

Additionally, you can rack up base points toward top-tier Hyatt status through the following:

• 10X base points per dollar spent on FIND experiences.

Just keep in mind that only base points count toward Globalist status; bonus points don’t.

Spending on your Hyatt credit cards

If you hold either the personal or business version of the World of Hyatt credit card, you can use it to spend your way to Hyatt Globalist.

The World of Hyatt Credit Card awards five qualifying night credits annually plus two additional qualifying night credits for every $5,000 spent on the card.

But you’ll also earn more than just an accelerated path to Hyatt status. You’ll earn Hyatt points when you spend on the card — with bonus points on everything from hotel stays to local transit, commuting, and gym memberships.

You’ll receive a Category 1–4 free night certificate each year you have this credit card, and you can earn another free night certificate after spending $15,000 on purchases annually. These free night certificates are valid at any properties in Category 1–4, and a Hyatt member can redeem a free night for a one-night stay or as part of a longer stay. You’ll also earn elite-qualifying night credits on eligible award stays booked with Hyatt points or free night awards.

The World of Hyatt Business Credit Card awards qualifying nights differently. You’ll earn five qualifying night credits for every $10,000 spent on this Hyatt credit card in a calendar year. While you won’t earn any Category 1–4 free night awards with this card, no matter how much you spend, you will earn Hyatt points from your spending — including bonus earnings that adapt to your spending.

Reaching Globalist status simply through spending is nothing short of an expensive challenge. But in all likelihood, if you spend on the card with any regularity, there’s a chance you’ll also stay at Hyatt properties often enough to qualify via a combination of spending and eligible nights spent at a Hyatt property.

What Are the Hyatt Globalist Benefits?

As World of Hyatt’s top-tier status, there’s a lengthy list of Globalist perks that make the juice worth the squeeze when earning Globalist status.

Suite upgrades

World of Hyatt Globalist members can enjoy complimentary space-available upgrades at check-in — including standard suites. Premium suites, however, remain out of reach to Globalists unless a specific property decides to upgrade as a courtesy.

Some properties don’t participate in these upgrades at all, such as Hyatt Vacation Club or Hyatt House, but you should still be able to enjoy these upgrades on your next stays at the majority of Hyatt’s brands, including its premium Park Hyatt properties.

Club lounge access

Globalists receive Club lounge access on eligible stays at participating properties. Depending on the lounge, this can include complimentary breakfast, snacks, drinks, and evening hors d’oeuvres. Each registered guest on your reservation can dine with you — up to two adults and two children per night. While not many hotels have a Club, this can be a nice perk to enjoy during your stays, especially for those traveling with a companion or even families.

Free breakfast

Complimentary breakfast is a guaranteed daily benefit for Globalists at all Hyatt brands other than Mr and Mrs Smith properties. This includes up to two adults and two children in your room, and it covers all taxes and gratuities. However, the free breakfast benefit only applies to your room — not to other rooms booked in your name if you have made a group reservation.

Breakfast is available on a per-night basis. While some properties, like Hyatt House and Hyatt Place, provide free breakfast to all guests, getting free breakfast as a Globalist member on all Hyatt stays can provide significant savings at more expensive properties like Hyatt Regency and Park Hyatt, particularly more so to those who travel accompanied.

Bonus points

Most World of Hyatt members earn 5X base points per dollar spent on eligible purchases. However, Hyatt Globalists earn a 30% bonus, which brings their total earnings to 6.5X points per dollar spent.

Keep in mind that the 30% Globalist bonus doesn’t count as base points toward elite status. These earnings are also in addition to any points you earn by paying with a Hyatt credit card.

Late checkout

Those who earn Globalist status can take advantage of a guaranteed 4 p.m. late checkout upon request. But a couple of caveats: This perk is subject to availability at Destination Residences, hotels with a casino, and Hyatt resorts. Additionally, late checkout is not offered at Hyatt Vacation Club resorts. However, it should be available on most Hyatt stays, including those at Park Hyatt and Hyatt Regency properties.

Waived resort fees

Resort fees sting — but less so if you hold World of Hyatt Globalist elite status. On free night awards and eligible paid stays, Hyatt Globalists enjoy waived resort fees. Getting waived resort fees as a benefit can save $30 or more per night when visiting places like Las Vegas, Hawaii, New York City, and a growing list of locations that charge those pesky resort and destination fees. This benefit doesn’t require using Hyatt credit cards as your payment method; it’s automatic.

Status match

Hyatt doesn’t regularly offer a standing status match from other hotel programs. However, earning Hyatt Globalist status will unlock status matches and challenges to other loyalty programs.

How To Get Hyatt Lifetime Globalist

Past a certain point, your continued allegiance to the World of Hyatt program will award you with Lifetime Globalist elite status. Reaching this threshold requires accruing 1 million lifetime base points — a tall task when most members earn 5X base points for each $1 they spend. If you’re keeping up with the math, that means an overall spend of $200,000 at Hyatt hotels and resorts.
Lifetime Globalist comes with more than just permanent top-tier status. Each year, Lifetime Globalists also receive four Suite Upgrade Awards, five Guest of Honor Awards, one Category 1–7 Free Night Award and access to My Hyatt Concierge.

Unlike annual Globalist status, Lifetime Globalist doesn’t require staying a certain number of nights. Qualification is based solely on the number of base points you earn.

And like the annual requirements for achieving Globalist status, only base points earned from eligible stays at Hyatt hotels, Homes & Hideaways, and those earned from FIND experiences count.

No matter which way you spin it, earning the required base points to attain Lifetime Globalist status will take some serious dedication — and certainly money — over a long period of time.

Is Globalist Status Worth It?

If you find yourself regularly staying at Hyatt hotels, the push to earn Globalist status might be worth your effort, even if it takes some additional effort to earn it every year.

Hyatt’s revamped Milestone Rewards tiers, a recent reimagining of the World of Hyatt program, makes it that much more enticing to stretch for those 60 qualifying nights or 100,000 base points since you’ll be earning some valuable rewards along the way. It might even be worth stretching further than those 60 nights, as rewards don’t just stop at Globalist.

Some of these choices include sizable amounts of bonus points, Suite Upgrade Awards, and FIND experience credits. And once you reach the threshold for Globalist status, you’ll net the following:

Suffice it to say, the road to Hyatt Globalist status is rewarding, and this doesn’t account for the perks you’ll enjoy once your Hyatt account reflects your new status.
