It’s a Category 4 Hyatt, and the new 5-tier award pricing means you pay 12,000 to 25,000 points per night — with 15,000 or 20,000 points being the most common nightly rates.
With the 4:3 ratio from the recent Chase Sapphire Preferred card refresh, those numbers require transferring 20,000 to 27,000 Ultimate Rewards points. Booking 3 nights at the 15,000-point rate requires transferring 60,000 points. Cash rates at this hotel regularly run $250 to $350 per night, so the value is real.
The Hyatt Regency Mexico City in Polanco is the more budget-conscious Hyatt. It’s a Category 3 property, and while it’s more of a business hotel, it’s well located and well run. Award nights range from 8,000 to 20,000 Hyatt points, with 12,000- and 15,000-point nights being among the most common.
