Bilt Refer A Friend Bonus

Bilt Refer A Friend Bonus

I received an email yesterday announcing that the Bilt refer a friend bonus has been increased from 2,500 points up to 10,000 points! That is a huge improvement (at 4x), and it gets it more in line with other banks. The bump does come with some limitations though, as it appears to only be good for your next referral. That is still a nice little win, but the bigger change may be Bilt’s terrible rule reversal. Let’s get into all of it.

Bilt Used To Have The Worst Refer A Friend Rules In The Business

A little over two years ago I broke the news that Bilt had a terrible refer a friend policy. I had referred my wife to the old Bilt credit card, but had her sign up for the Bilt app right before the credit card application. I assumed it would be easier if she already had a Bilt account to get things rolling. Stupid me, I guess. She used my referral link to apply, and was approved for the card. I waited a few weeks for my 2,500 Bilt points bonus to post, but they never did.

When I reached out to inquire about the referral points I was informed that the application was not eligible to earn referral points. Why? Because she already had a Bilt app account. Trying to explain that I had her sign up for the app right before the credit card application got me nowhere. The good part about the referral bonus being so small was that I didn’t miss out on much I guess. I still left me feeling a bit cheated, and made Bilt seem kind of cheap because of it. It is only 2,500 points after all, why have such a terrible restriction?

How Things Are Different Now

Well, that seems to have changed. I read through the referral terms of this offer, and I did not see any mention of Bilt app users being ineligible for refer a friend bonuses. I confirmed this further with Richard Kerr at Bilt, and he said that they had indeed removed those terms. As long as the person referred does not have a Bilt card they are good to go on referral points. This is a much better rule overall. It is fair, and lines up with what Chase has on their business cards now etc.

Increased Refer A Friend Bonus

Back to the 10,000 point bonus. Here is what the offer says:

For a limited time, your next successful referral earns 10,000 points instead of 2,500. Share your link with a friend and if they’re approved for any Bilt Card and accept their offer by 9/30/26, the points are yours.

After the successful referral the bonus points drop back down to 2,500 points. I do like that the offer is the same no matter which Bilt card they choose.

*This appears to be a targeted offer. As my wife got a 5K per person, for up to 4 people, and the 10K for the 5th person offer.*

Where To Find Your Bilt Referral

The easiest place I have been able to find it is in the Bilt app. When I go to the Wallet section the referral shows up underneath my Bilt card’s detail.

Increased Bilt Referral Bonus: Final Thoughts

Getting 10,000 valuable Bilt points for referring a friend to one of their cards is a nice win. However, I think them changing the horrible refer a friend rules they used to have was the bigger deal here.

If you were planning on grabbing a Bilt card (especially to get a referral chain going with your friends or family) and don’t have a referral to use, then you can use our affiliate links. Thanks in advance if you choose to support MTM by using them!
