MS Reinsurance Names Lisa Butera and Lucas Castagnino Chief Underwriting Officers for the Americas

MS Reinsurance announced two underwriting leadership appointments, both effective Aug. 1, naming Lisa Butera chief underwriting officer for North America and elevating Lucas Castagnino to chief underwriting officer for Latin America and Caribbean.

“Today marks an important step in strengthening our underwriting leadership,” said Jörg Bruniecki, group chief underwriting officer. “Lisa’s and Lucas’s experience, leadership skills and perspectives will help us build on the momentum we have already created. These appointments follow a comprehensive search process, which included both internal and external candidates, highlighting the strength and depth of talent within MS Re’s underwriting organization.”

Butera joins MS Re from Swiss Re, where she served as managing director, head of FinPro and Casualty, North America, Corporate Solutions. She brings more than 30 years of experience across primary and reinsurance markets and will oversee MS Re’s National, Regional, and MGA underwriting teams in the United States and Bermuda.

Castagnino, an MS Re team member since 2016, steps into the newly established role, bringing three decades of market knowledge to continue driving the company’s ambitions across Latin American markets. &
