Turn Tours Bookings Into Free Nights

Wyndham Rewards is an underdog in the points and miles world. It isn’t discussed nearly as much as other big players like Hilton Honors or Marriott Bonvoy, but there are some interesting sweet spots in the program.

Free nights start at just 7,500 points and will soon drop to just 5,000 points per night. Plus, now that Wyndham partners with several transferable point currencies — including Wells Fargo Rewards at a 1:2 ratio — and frequently runs lucrative buy Wyndham points promotions, it’s much easier to top off your Wyndham Rewards balance to book stays.

But an overlooked way to organically grow your Wyndham Rewards points balance is by booking tours and activities through Wyndham to earn 10X points per $1 spent. Here’s what to know about booking tours and entertainment through Wyndham Rewards.

What Are Wyndham Travel Bundles?

Wyndham Travel Bundlesf allow you to book a variety of travel experiences through Wyndham to earn bonus points toward your next redemption.

Although the name implies that a booking through Wyndham Travel Bundles will be bundled with a hotel stay, that isn’t the case. While you have the option to bundle your hotel and flight, you can book standalone flights, car rentals, limos, airport transfers, cruises, tours, concerts, and other activities.

The tours and activities section is powered by Viator and TUI and lets you book more than 300,000 experiences worldwide. These experiences include guided city tours, experience tickets, day trips, food and wine classes, and more.

Earning and redeeming Wyndham points through Travel Bundles

You can use either points or cash to pay. But we don’t recommend redeeming Wyndham points this way, as you’ll get a value of roughly 0.35 cents per point. That’s far less than the 1.32¢ average valuation that AwardWallet users typically get from Wyndham points.

However, every time you book something through the Wyndham Travel Bundles page using cash, you’ll earn 10 Wyndham Rewards points per $1 spent on eligible cash bookings — making for an intriguing points-earning opportunity.

You generally don’t have to worry about markups on pricing. In fact, you might actually get a deal. For instance, if I wanted to book a food tour in Athens, Greece, I could book it for $73.22 per person through Wyndham. And if I were a Wyndham Rewards Insider, I could book it for just $68.56 per person. Meanwhile, Viator charges $81.09 per person for the same tour on the same day.

However, this will be on a case-by-case basis, so it’s worth double-checking both websites (and other tourism websites) to see if you can get a better deal elsewhere. For this booking, I’d save money, earn Wyndham Rewards points, and still earn rewards from the credit card used to pay.

It’s not clear how these purchases code. Even though you’re booking through a Wyndham Hotels webpage, it’s unlikely to code as a hotel purchase, so use a card for everyday spending — like the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card.

Redeeming Wyndham Points

Once you’ve earned all of those extra Wyndham points, what can you do with them?

Wyndham currently assigns all of its properties to one of three pricing tiers. You’ll pay 7,500, 15,000, or 30,000 points per bedroom per night. Or, you can book a Points + Cash redemption starting at just 750 points per night.

This is changing on September 15, 2026, when Wyndham will adopt a new four-tier award pricing model.

Earning a free night through Wyndham Travel Bundles

Let’s do some math here, so you can see how to turn your Travel Bundle purchases into a free hotel stay.

Wyndham cardholders receive up to a 25% discount on award stays, depending on their card. If you hold a Wyndham card offering the full 25% award discount, you need just 5,625 points for a property that normally costs 7,500 points.

Because you earn 10X points on purchases through Wyndham Travel Bundles, you need to spend as little as $562.50 on tours or activities to earn enough points for a free night.

That means that you could theoretically score a free night by booking a day trip for your family during your next vacation. That’s not a bad return on your investment. Alternatively, without a Wyndham cardholder award discount, you need to spend $750 to earn enough points for a free night. Remember, this is the starting rate for free nights, so some properties cost more.

Other Ways To Earn Wyndham Points

Another quick way to earn a healthy stash of Wyndham points is to open a Wyndham card. There are four co-branded cards offered through Barclays. They are:

• Wyndham Rewards Earner^® Card: Earn 30,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first 90 days, plus 45,000 bonus points after spending $500 at Hotels by Wyndham in the first 180 days.
• Wyndham Rewards Earner^® Plus Card: Earn 45,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first 90 days, plus 55,000 bonus points after spending $500 at Hotels by Wyndham in the first 180 days.
• Wyndham Rewards Earner^® Premier Card: Earn 90,000 bonus points after spending $6,000 on purchases and paying the annual fee in full (both within the first 120 days), plus 30,000 bonus points after spending $750 at Hotels by Wyndham in the first 180 days.
• Wyndham Rewards^® Earner℠ Business Card: Earn 45,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first 90 days, plus 55,000 bonus points after spending $500 at Hotels by Wyndham in the first 180 days.

As we mentioned above, Wyndham cardholders receive up to a 25% discount on award stays, plus additional benefits like elevated earning rates on eligible Wyndham purchases, automatic elite status, no foreign transaction fees, and more.

Should You Use Wyndham Travel Bundles?

Many points enthusiasts will try to stack their purchases by using shopping portals or credit card offers when buying things online or booking excursions, tickets, and tours. Oftentimes, we’ll wait until the shopping portals have elevated bonuses before making purchases. For example, we may wait to book an experience on Viator until it earns 10X when purchased through Rakuten, instead of the standard 2X.

The difference is that booking directly through Viator will not necessarily earn 10X points back. Even if you go through an additional shopping portal, you’ll need to save the purchase for one of the few times each year when earnings are elevated. Alternatively, booking through Wyndham guarantees a 10X return on all eligible purchases. That means you don’t need to wait for an elevated portal offer while risking a price increase.

However, Rakuten has partnerships with American Express and Bilt, so instead of earning cash back, you can earn American Express Membership Rewards or Bilt Points. When you earn Wyndham points, you are more limited in how you redeem those points.

Bottom Line

If you’re already planning to book an experience in your hometown or a city you’re visiting, you might as well take advantage of the extra earnings when booking through Wyndham. That way, you can turn those extra points earned into future trips. With a guaranteed 10X on your purchases, earning enough points for a free night is easily obtainable. Plus, it comes from money you’re already planning to spend anyway.
